Quarterly
Block
Janet Hickman is hosting the September quarterly block and it is a beauty. It is called "Mrs. Keller's
Nine Patch" but this is not an ordinary nine patch. Instructions were handed out by Janet at the June meeting
along with green fabric that will be used in the 4 squares located in the center of the block. This nine patch variation
is done in fall medley colors and is sure to be a hit! If you missed the directions at the last meeting, don't forget
to look at the "Check It Out Board". There is still time but you will have to check with Janet to see if she has additional
fabric available. By the way, congratulations to Shelly May on her winning the last quarterly blocks. Wonder
what she will do with all those stunning Spring hats????
Block
of the Month
Zee is hosting this annual event
that started with block number one at the May meeting. If you did not get your pattern, please pick one up at the "Check It
Out Board" during our June meeting. Due to the various possibilities of this project (i.e. sashing, borders, qty of blocks
made, etc.), fabric requirements are not and will not be published with the block patterns. Sometime we just have to depend
on our own creativity!
July Door Prize/Refreshments
As most of you know, somehow
we have had a mix up with two different sign-up sheets being circulated for monthly refreshments and door prizes. It seems
to be straightened out now but I am still unsure. Records indicate that the Guild is providing the door prize and refreshments
for the July meeting. If this needs to be corrected, please a board member. (But don't call Peggy
because she will be on vacation in Florida visiting her children and grand children!) Thanks!
Good
News!
We have already had volunteers
step forward to fill our upcoming vacancies of our executive board for the year 2005-2006. All four current board positions
have served their maximum 2 year term. However, we will continue to accept volunteers who would like to serve as on the executive
board (President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer). Voting will be in August and installation of officers will be
in September.
Block
Swap
1 yard of Reproduction
Civil War fabric cut into fat 8ths. (Bring it to the July meeting and you will get 8 different fat 8ths of Civil War
fabrics at the August meeting.)
Fat
quarter lottery
One fat quarter of the same
Civil War fabric and one lucky winner takes home all of the fat quarters at the July meeting.
July
Demo
Theresa
Delano will be doing a demo at the July meeting that sounds like a fast and fun project. You won't want to miss getting these
instructions on how to make these adorable coasters. Sound like Christmas in July!
Show
and Tell
Don’t forget to bring show and tell with you to the July meeting. And please let us know if
you have visited shops or shows that we would like to hear about. Summer travels often lead us to discover some off
the beaten path places to buy fabric!
